Our History

New System Laundry, history

100 years and counting.

From facility management, to laundry, and linen rental, our full suite of offerings is built on a legacy based in the Northwest that started in 1917 that has survived droughts, depressions and even fires.

Today, we're a fourth-generation company proudly committed to our original mission of providing great service and great textiles to clients. We strive to stay ahead of the trends, and focus on customer satisfaction through innovation and sustainability.

The First Wash

George H. Rawlinson got the first rinse cycle started in 1917. New System Laundry is still located on it’s original location in beautiful Portland, Oregon.

From Devastation to Innovation

Fire ravaged the plant in 1960. While devastating, it was also seen as an opportunity to rebuild stronger than ever. The plant was rebuilt and outfitted with better, more efficient equipment. It must have worked because an expansion was added to accommodate the growing business.

Laundry Pick-up and Delivery

In the early days, workers drove a fleet of Ford Model T’s to deliver orders quickly and efficiently. Today, a fleet of trucks with specially designed equipment helps keep orders and inventories clean and organized.

Servicing Seattle

New System Laundry expanded service to local Seattle, Washington restaurants and healthcare facilities in 2003.

Pressing Matters

In the 1930’s, the pressing department was state-of-the-art – and that tradition continues with our advanced technology that delivers perfectly pressed linens and textiles.

Bringing Green to Eugene

In 2014, New System Laundry ventured south to support Eugene, Oregon’s growing culinary scene and local healthcare business with our green laundry and linen solutions.
